By the time we finally met Renee in person, we had spent about a year developing our criteria for our new home in southern California. Optimizing these criteria (community, walkability, low maintenance, view, and proximity to the ocean) on-site is one kind of challenge but to do it 2000 miles away required a cheerier disposition and creatitivity from the realtor. Renee provided all of this plus. For example, one property, that we identified from a Zillow listing, looked so promising. So Renee with her handy phone camera took us on a virtual tour. We loved the house but the other criteria fell short. Another example, nicknamed Carol's Obsession, from the handy camera virtual tour was a so-so house but the other criteria seemed to work. Subsequently, we toured the property in person, but our first impressions from the virtual tour were right on we passed on this property. Then we planned for a one-week onsite viewing of 15 properties. Renee organized and scheduled to allow us sufficient time for viewing the properties as well as visiting the parks, restaurants, neighborhoods, etc. By the time we had completed her week-long schedule, we felt very comfortable in making an offer on a property. Oh yes, the property not one of the original 15! Another of Renee's attributes was flexibility. Another agent suggested that she bring us to this property, after all, we had some time in our schedule. "Why not?" she said. It wasn't on the list, but here we are in our new home fantastic view, low maintenance, walkability, community, and the ocean is a 10-minute stroll. Trying to buy a new home from 2000 miles is a bit scary. Renee solved all the issues with timely phone calls and emails. So you might ask why this perfect property didn't make it onto the list of 15. It is because it is a townhouse and we had eliminated condos and townhouses from our list. Thank goodness Renee said, "Why not?"
